The Boston Red Sox are turning yellow for a few games this month. And the White Sox will be at Fenway Park to see the new look in person.

Major League Baseball announced the first edition of “City Connect” uniforms that Nike has put in place for some teams this season. The Red Sox will wear yellow and blue uniforms inspired by the Boston Marathon, which takes place each year on the city’s Patriots’ holiday. Part of that tradition is a morning start time for the Red Sox game. The White Sox are in Boston for this game this season, the last game of a four-game weekend series.

The Red Sox are expected to wear these bad boys in Saturday and Sunday games against the White Sox.

The White Sox will also receive their own “City Connect†uniforms to wear in the Saturday June 5 game against the Detroit Tigers.

Start speculating on what this might look like.

The Chicago flag is an obvious option, of course, although it has been used several times as the inspiration for the Bulls “City Edition” jerseys on the basketball court. A Twitter user had a pretty solid suggestion to incorporate the old CTA design cues.

If I could choose – and I don’t at all – I would salute Chicago Blues and Chess Records, which was known not far from the current location of Guaranteed Rate Field at 2120 S. Michigan Ave.

We’ll see when the MLB decides to preview these uniforms for the first time. Considering they waited less than two weeks before their scheduled wear date to show the Red Sox special duds on Tuesday, perhaps White Sox fans can expect to see the uniforms on a similar timeline, at the mid-May.
