JAIPUR: At a time when it is difficult to venture without a jacket, Rajasthan’s personnel selection committee has ordered candidates for the firefighter exam on January 29 to appear without shoes or socks.
About 1,48,000 candidates are likely to take part in the direct recruitment competition for assistant firefighters and firefighters in seven centres.
Additionally, candidates must remove their sweaters and jackets to frolic after which they will be allowed to enter the exam centers.
Mukesh Saini (name change), working as a contract firefighter in the Jaipur fire department and will sit for the exam, said it would be difficult to pass the exam without shoes.
“The temperature is dropping every day and the government should have allowed us to wear socks.”
Rajasthan personnel selection committee chairman Hari Prasad Sharma said he added the point to avoid cheating.
“Supervisors have the right to allow students to enter with shoes and socks. Although it is not mentioned in the guidelines, but the invigilators can decide depending on the situation after searching the candidates.
Seema Sharma (name changed), another firefighter from the Jaipur Fire Brigade who will be appearing for the position of assistant firefighter, said that these guidelines were also present during the REET exam, but at that time, the weather was favorable unlike January.
For the position of firefighter assistant, approximately 7,061 candidates will present themselves for the examination which will take place from 10 am to 12 pm. For the position of firefighter, 1,41,720 candidates will apply and the competition will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There are seven centers for firefighters in Ajmer, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur while for assistant firefighters there is one center in Jaipur.
