After allegedly walking through the Waukesha Christmas Parade on Sunday, Darrell Brooks Jr. showed up without his shoes, jacket or car on an unwitting couple’s porch, asked for help, and ate a sandwich at inside.

Brooks showed up on the porch in the middle of a soccer game, knocked, and asked if he could use the host’s phone.

Daniel Rider’s Ring Doorbell camera recorded portions of the exchange in 20-second bursts, starting about 20 minutes after the chaos of the parade.

“Hey, I called an Uber and I’m supposed to be waiting here, but I don’t know when it’s coming, can you call it for me please?” Brooks says in the video after knocking on Rider’s door. “I am homeless.”

Brooks was polite and lucid throughout the meeting, Rider said, but he was shaking with no jacket or shoes on. And the smell of marijuana was in the air.

Rider said Brooks thanked him for the sandwich and the warmth before the police arrived to arrest him.

“He said, ‘You show me so much love man; I’m grateful you show me so much love here,’” said Rider. “Because I had just given him a sandwich, I warmed him up with a jacket.”

Brooks also complied with all of Rider’s requests and returned the host’s phone and jacket before the police arrested him.

Rider’s 24-year-old girlfriend Katrina Reigh said earlier this week that Sunday was “quite, quite evening.”

“He was very polite to Daniel,†she told Fox News Digital. “I think Daniel said the hardest thing he realizes is that this guy had just killed so many people and he was so polite and kinda calm. Then when he started to feel bad about it. comfortable, he told her to leave …[Brooks] respected, but it was just crazy. I’m glad everyone is doing well, at least in our house, it’s horrible what happened to everyone. “

She was at work during the incident but could see excerpts from the exchange via her smartphone.

“[Rider] was just trying to be a Good Samaritan, “she said.” He said if he had known what was going on in the neighborhood of course he never would have let her in or anything like that – just crazy. “

“I guess I was just a little worried about Daniel’s safety,†she said. “He was talking to the police, so I couldn’t reach him at first, and I had received texts from my parents at the time telling me what happened in the parade. And we live so. close. I thought, ‘What are the chances that this is the guy?’ But it was.”

Another neighbor, Sam Eigner, 33, said she returned home around 8 p.m. to find her block closed and overrun with police vehicles, including an armored vehicle.

Sam Eigner told Fox News Digital she returned home at 8 p.m. after the attack on Waukesha and her road was blocked by police.
