Retailers launch Boxing Day sales at the start of this year

People like John Lewis, Asos, and House of Fraser have already triggered huge discounts, with the price of some items slashed by 70% or more.

Fashion, perfumes, electronics, and sportswear are just a few of the areas where you can strike a deal.

This isn’t the first time this year that retailers have decided to start sales early.

Over the past month, many major sites kicked off their Black Friday sales days, or even weeks before the trade event.

Boxing Day sales have traditionally been the biggest shopping day on the UK calendar, but this year a slew of retailers have revealed they won’t be opening their doors on this day.

Aldi, Morrisons and M&S are among the companies that have confirmed they will remain closed on Boxing Day.

A number of companies have said they want to give their staff an extra day off to thank them after a difficult year.

The Next sale has always seen buyers lining up in the early hours of the morning to get their hands on a good deal.

But this year, the Main Street pillar won’t launch its in-store sale until December 27.

However, VIP members can start shopping now.

And there are plenty of great deals to be found elsewhere as well.

Where to find Boxing Day bargains

Asos launched a mega sale, with discounts of 70% or more on some items.

We spotted a Paul Costelloe leather bag reduced from £ 175 to £ 52 – a 70% saving.

Meanwhile, a lace midi dress has fallen 74% from £ 75 to just £ 19, and a leather jacket has been slashed from £ 650 to £ 150, a reduction of 76%.

At John Lewis, the official Boxing Day sale hasn’t started, but there is 50% or more off some clothing brands, including Ted Baker men’s pants, which are reduced from £ 119 to £ 47.

We spotted an industrial style ceiling shade for less than half the price – reduced from £ 45 to £ 22.

You can also save £ 150 on a Shark cordless vacuum, reduced to £ 199.

Boots reduced the prices of gift boxes and perfumes.

You can save over £ 16 on Hugo Boss Iced For Him – the 100ml bottle is reduced from £ 50 to £ 33.33.

Plus, children’s clothing is half the price, including a lazy pajama set reduced to £ 7.50 and a floral romper for just £ 3.

At H&M, there are great deals on clothing and outerwear.

We spotted a cozy quilted coat at £ 36 for £ 60 and a sequined dress reduced from £ 35 to £ 20 – in case you’re still looking for something special to wear on Christmas Day.

Sales start early

B&Q has plenty of offers for those who are already thinking about sunnier times in the garden.

We spotted a wooden shed from £ 145 to £ 100 and a rattan planter from £ 82 to £ 42.

Curry’s does not yet have a live sale for Boxing Day, but it does have a lot of so-called “flash†deals.

You can buy a Tassimo coffee machine for £ 29.99 – a massive saving of £ 70 off the regular price.

And we spotted a Bosch steam iron for £ 34 – a savings of over £ 45.

House of Fraser also kicked off sales earlier, with savings of 50% or more on beauty and other lines.

We saw a Lancôme lipstick half price at £ 13.50 and 30% off a Chloe Nomade perfume gift set, now £ 59.50.

As with any sale, remember that it’s only a good deal if you wanted this item anyway.

Buyers should also be on the lookout for failed deals – research by Which? earlier this year, it was discovered that nine out of ten deals were in fact bogus deals.

He said 187 of 201 products reviewed on Black Friday cost the same or more than in previous months.

As always, you should shop around before you shop to make sure you’re getting a good deal.
