Spurs fans have a new collection of shirts to pick up for the team’s 50th anniversary season. Spurs unveiled a Mexican serape-inspired design for the Statement Edition uniform on Monday, July 25.

The Statement Edition is one of five uniforms the team will wear this season. The new design, inspired by traditional Mexican serapes and saddle blankets, features the newly unveiled secondary Texas and SATX logos on the chest.

“Our new Statement Edition uniform embodies the evolution of our team’s roots while celebrating fans across the region,” Becky Kimbro, VP of Brand Engagement for Spurs Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement. Press. “Through the intricate serape pattern, we blend our 50-year heritage with our vibrant culture that we celebrate on and off the pitch.”

Spurs say the design “honours the team’s heritage in Texas.”

The serape uniform reveal follows another design that was unveiled earlier this month. The new throwback jersey is a George Gervin-inspired look that is considered the anniversary season’s commemorative jersey. Spurs will also unveil a City Edition uniform soon.

LockerVision says each team is allowed five alternate jerseys per season. Classic Editions are reserved for team anniversaries or key moments in franchise history.

Fans can get their hands on the new merchandise this fall at Spurs Fan Shops and online in preparation for the team’s golden anniversary season. The jerseys are part of a larger commemorative collection which will include t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, jerseys, caps and more.
