Private investigators focus on clothes and shoes in the car of Jamie Kaiwai, a missing woman from Tolaga Bay

Private investigators investigating the disappearance of Tolaga Bay woman Jamie Kaiwai are asking people to come forward if they have information on a missing shoe.

The mother of a 27-year-old went missing on the morning of October 10, 2019. After a thorough search, police said they did not consider her case to be suspicious.

Her whÄnau was not convinced and hired a private investigative team, Scope Investigations, to investigate the case.

Earlier this year, Jonique Oli-Alainu’uese, Kaiwai’s first cousin, launched a Give a small page to raise $ 100,000 for the survey, with the page hitting its target Wednesday night.

Senior investigator Hamish Kerr said The herald of Gisborne his team were focused on a piece of clothing that could open more doors to Kaiwai’s disappearance.

Kaiwai was believed to be wearing a pair of size 8 black leather Converse Chuck Taylor high top shoes when she went missing.

One of those shoes was found tangled in clothing – which was sandy and wet – in the trunk of his blue Nissan Tiida, but the other shoe was nowhere to be found.

The unlocked car was found by Maori guards on the morning of October 13, at the parking lot at the Tolaga Bay wharf, three days after it went missing.

It was also the time of the Tuia 250 commemorations. The bay was busy and full of boats, but no one seemed to have noticed that Kaiwai’s car was pulling into the parking lot.

Kerr said a shoe was stuck in the leg of Kaiwai’s gray sweatpants, which had turned upside down. They were found with two of Kaiwai’s hoodies, one inside the other, and there was blood on the inside of the cuff on one of the sleeves.

A black leather jacket and a black undershirt, both of which had blood on the sleeves, were in the front seat of the car, but it was unclear whether these clothes belonged to Kaiwai.

Kerr said Kaiwai’s missing shoe was still somewhere in the environment and someone may have had it in their possession.

He also recently appeared on The Hui, revealing that his team had received two different photographs of the Tuia 250 celebrations and discovered that Kaiwai’s car had been moved to and from different parking lots during the celebrations.
