Noomi plays Maria in the Icelandic film which follows the story of a childless couple – MarÃa and Ingvar – who find a mysterious newborn baby on their farm.
The newborn baby is partly a sheep and they treat it like a human by raising it inside, dressing it in clothes.
The prospect of having a family turns the couple on but in the end, it ultimately destroys them.

The film is the first in which Noomi speaks Icelandic, a language she learned as a child when she lived there.
After its 2021 Cannes Film Festival premiere, the horror film was released in Iceland on September 24.

But the actress explained how desperately she wanted to move away from the reputation of “bada **” that the trilogy of films and subsequent projects forced on her.
Speaking to The Guardian, the star admitted that the 2009 film and its sequels had a lasting impact over the next decade.
Noomi has starred in Swedish film adaptations of Larsson’s books, earning a string of major award nominations and a new international career.
She went on to star in major films, including her first English-speaking role in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (2011) and Ridley’s hit hit Scott Prometheus (2012).
Reflecting on this stage of her career, Noomi tells The Guardian that playing Lisbeth Salander has given her “an identity” that she has struggled to shake off.
“I don’t want to be the bada **,” she explained. “I even hate the word. People always throw things at me, “She’s so bada **, she’s so you.” I’m like … ‘ [putting her head in her hands].

“Making these films was like drowning in trauma. It meant that the first connective tissue between me and the world was pain for many years.
“The pain and sadness was like my ID card. Now I have healed a lot. Maybe I’m not clearer but I would say I allow more colors in me. I feel more cowardly. The veneer, the shield I had built from childhood, slowly peels off. I am alive now rather than surviving.
The interview sees the actress recalling examples of her own “dumb and cheesy” personality, telling the publication about a time she took co-workers to a crossdressing party. “I put them in wigs and long dresses, and I was a full man. I wore that dildo, that big strap-on, and I walked like a man all night. I liked it!’
