Kim Kardashian is finally mixing things up (sort of). The social media maven ditched the all-black theme she’s been picking up lately and instead opted for Pink Barbie as she stepped out in New York City on Thursday ahead of her appearance on Saturday Night Live.
While the color is kind of a departure for Kardashian, it has stuck with Demna Gvasalia with the head-to-toe Balenciaga look. The future SNL the host wore a structured velvet blazer with pointy and pointy shoulders that could make the eyes pop. She paired the top with the house’s now famous maybe-boots-maybe-pants (likely knee-high boots), pink gloves, and a rhinestone-encrusted hourglass bag.
The look, while pink, marks the continuation of Kardashian’s Balenciaga or die campaign. The fashion and beauty mogul has only worn the luxury label for months (aside from a few Skims pieces here and there), finding as many uses as possible for the Balenciaga leggings. She wore three different Balenciaga looks this week alone while presumably attending rehearsals for her SNL debuts including an oversized quilted leather vest and thigh high boots yesterday.
It’s unclear exactly what Kardashian is up to with this Balenciaga streak, if anything at all. Is a collaboration in preparation? Advertising campaign ? Or is it just the case of a star who goes mono-brand, just because. After the spring presentation of Gvasalia with an episode of The simpsons, we wouldn’t be totally shocked if the house had something cheeky in the works with this other family hanging over American pop culture: the Kardashians.
