Justin Bieber is emerging as a Renaissance man, especially when it comes to style.

From nailing French chic to a classic striped to inspire revolutionary feelings with a super slick guayabera, the 27-year-old popstar is becoming a man of the world. And what better sport for a man of the world than the beautiful game, football? (Or football, if you prefer.)

Over the weekend, ‘The Biebs’ was spotted playing a friendly local soccer game in Los Angeles, rocking a rather stylish Churchome FC kit – Churchome being a Christian church revival with ministries across the states -United (you know Bieber has been on his quest mind for a while).

Of all the accounts, Bieber actually has a bit of a game – and with his short, bleached hair and draped in a soccer jersey, he actually gave off a rather David Beckham vibe. No hooligans here.

Of course, joining a local soccer team is a great way to meet new people and stay fit and healthy. But we’d be lying if one of the coolest things in football were football outfits: whether you’re a Christian Eriksen or a couch potato, everyone looks cool in a jersey.

Again, this all fits into Bieber’s increasingly broad stylistic work. We love the new Justin.

Speaking of cool football kits, here are some of the best new kits out there right now.

FC Barcelona Home 2021/2022

Much of the recent media attention around Barca has focused on Lionel Messi’s departure from the club. Which is a shame, because in addition to hurting their current performance on the pitch, it distracts them from the unveiling of their new home kit, who could be one of the best of the club’s 121-year history.

The quirky design is effectively a minimal rendering of the club crest, with an upper right section of the torso mimicking the flag of St George while the upper left features fine vertical stripes. It’s a nifty idea and a big change from the basic vertical stripes in the 2020/2021 kit.

Chelsea Home 2021/2022

Chelsea’s new jersey takes it up a notch. The England side have always had an eye for smart detail, and their 2021/2022 home colors are no exception. While the left shoulder has a fairly simple blue-on-blue checkerboard pattern, the rest of the shirt features a wavy helical zigzag that really breaks up the silhouette of the jersey.

As an added bonus, the kit, like virtually all modern Nike football kits, is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Good product.

Inter Milan Fourth 2021/2022

Inter’s new fourth kit, However, take the cake for the most extravagant design in professional football right now. A 90s fever dream of bright colors, geometric patterns, varied textures and oversized logos, you might be wrong thinking this was some kind of FIFA ’21 fantasy kit if not for the blue and black stripes under the Nike logo.

Inter’s home and away kits are also quite common, although not as plentiful as this one. They feature a scaly snake pattern; a reference to the team’s nickname Il Biscione (“The great grass snake”).

Paris Saint-Germain Home 2021/2022

A little quieter than some of these other models, The new PSG jersey is remarkable for two main reasons: first, because it is once again abolished with tradition and omitted the classic Hechter jerseys red horizontal bar pattern, but also because this is their first kit actually produced by Jordan Brand.

Nike’s basketball footprint made waves when it signed a deal with the France team in 2018 – a seemingly bizarre combination – but so far PSG’s Jordan-branded kits haven’t were just Nike kits with a logo swap. Now Jordan produces the shirts herself (you’d think that’s a pretty academic difference, but there you go).

Speaking of great deals for sportswear brands, find out how luxury brands are increasingly seeking international athletes, including Olympic athletes, for endorsements.
