Hope these aren’t the new Washington Commanders jerseys

The Washington football team unveils its new name, logo, brand and uniforms Wednesday morning.

Leaks surfaced 11 hours before the official reveal, including NBC4’s Chopper4 capturing a photo of a banner at FedEx Field suggesting the new name is Washington Commanders.

Other leaks include merchandise and the new #takecommand hashtag. Apparently, the team’s new shirts have appeared on social media. Let’s hope these aren’t the new uniforms of Washington’s commanders.

While we find out the team name could be the Commanders ahead of NBC’s Today show reveal, one suspense awaiting is the uniforms as well as other branding. If it’s the uniforms, they’re just as bad a miss as many say the new name is.

Burgundy jerseys look great except for the police. The black jersey is okay, but does it have any connection to the team’s history, as the Washington brass suggested?

The white jerseys appear to have more red than the team’s burgundy. Remember when head coach Ron Rivera said the traditional color scheme wouldn’t be changed? So the only jersey in traditional colors are the presumed home shirts?

Oh and the three stars that hint at a commander’s ranking appear inside the jersey not necessarily visible to onlookers.

Let’s wait until Wednesday to see if these images are legit. Also, let’s see them on the players. It looks like Terry McLaurin, Jonathan Allen and Chase Young will be part of the reveal. And let’s see how the jerseys go with the pants, if those are really legit.

Considering how the process was fumbled by the Washington brass, the jerseys only match the name reveal. Nevertheless, let’s keep hoping that these are not the real Washington Commanders jerseys.
