In a bid to help shoppers in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis and reduce their environmental footprint, Ebay has launched an “Imperfects” platform to resell slightly faulty items that would otherwise go to landfill . Imperfects will be selling designer clothes, shoes and accessories for up to 60% off.

Imperfects sells items from over 100 big names, including North Face, Puma, Fila, Timberland, Nike, Adidas and Joules, as well as high-end names like Balenciaga, Prada and Gucci. Flaws are only slight imperfections like a small scuff or mark, missing button or loose thread.

Many items are ex-display products, meaning they can’t be sold at full price because they haven’t met the manufacturer’s strict quality standards. All faults are listed on each item with accompanying photos, so customers know exactly what they are buying.

Every purchase on Ebay’s Imperfects platforms also comes with free shipping, 30-day returns, and a money-back guarantee. The launch tactfully coincides with World Earth Day on Friday, April 22.

Searches for “second-hand clothes” have increased ninefold over the past year, and searches for “used dresses” have increased by 156%. EBbay Imperfects hopes to help environmentally conscious shoppers make greener choices.

Jemma Tadd, Head of Fashion at Ebay, said: “With mounting financial pressures and the climate crisis continuing to be at the forefront of consumers’ minds, we are proud to launch Imperfects as another avenue to help keep fashion items out of landfills.

“It’s often the fashion items that may not have been ‘cut’ and failed quality assurance checks – therefore customers would not have had the opportunity to purchase the items. Ebay provides a platform for these items to have a second chance and sell, despite their imperfections.

Highlights of Imperfects shoes currently online include Nike Air Max 90 up to £69.50 from £115 in various sizes, Adidas Stan Smith for £35.63 instead of £75, and if you feel like splashing out, Jimmy Choo black high heels up to £319 from £640, all old display shoes.

As for the bags, buy one Helly Henson Duffel Bag for £63.58 instead of £80, a Joseph pouch for £45 instead of £300 or a Chloe shoulder bag for £849 instead of £1,690. For clothes, find Joules cropped jeans for £12.95 instead of £54.95, a Joules floral dress for £19.95 instead of £69.95, or a North Face Jacket for £161.26 instead of £245.

The stock will increase with the popularity of Ebay’s Imperfects platform. To shop the full selection visit Ebay imperfect website .
