The Blue Jackets lost the hockey game tonight.

After Max Domi opened the scoring, Teuvo Teravainen equalized late in the first period. Then, in overtime, Dougie Hamilton beat Elvis Merzlikins to give the Hurricanes the extra point.

However, the Blue Jackets certainly landed a major victory with their uniform. For the first time in franchise history, the team wore their white shirts outside with their navy pants. The results have been absolutely spectacular.

The white jersey combined with the navy blue pants creates a stunning visual, especially when you take into account the red border. There is an American theme there, for sure. In a season where so much has gone wrong for the Blue Jackets, it’s nice to finally see something happen, even if it doesn’t really affect their performance on the ice.

Sadly, tonight’s game against Carolina was the Blue Jackets’ last road game of the campaign. If the Blue Jackets decide to do this combo again, we’ll have to wait until next year to see it, which is a real shame.

More importantly, the Blue Jackets got at least one point in 100% of games when they wore this uniform suit. That’s a reason to bring him back next season.
