The last drop of Balenciaga makes everyone wonder “why?” “

The haute couture brand is famous for creating clothes that divide – from crocodile rubber boots to a shopping bag your grandma would be proud of!

This time around, social media users are poking fun at the brand for a shiny new pair of £ 825 sneakers. Oh sorry. We meant, a pair of worn and dirty £ 825 sneakers.

According to a source, Balenciaga designed the sneakers with a “worn” look in mind. The design is in mesh and features a ‘painted’ waistline on the front.

This drop of running sneakers supposedly aims to capture a vintage ’90s effect. The shoes have been compared to Asics men’s sneakers, which typically retail for around £ 50.

People bluntly scoffed at the drop on Twitter, especially user Conor O’Neill (@conoraon). Writing on the platform, he said: “Meanwhile, to Brown Thomas: they sell the runners your uncle wears to walk the dog, but for € 865 [£734]”.

He then said he wanted to “tax the rich” in order to “prevent them from buying € 865 in Asics runners”.

The post opened a new box of worms, with users bombarding responses with seemingly low-quality styles thanks to the brand.

One person tweeted an image of an oversized Balenciaga jacket, priced at £ 2,890. They said: “£ 2,890 for their mall’s safety jacket. Completely sick.”

On the other hand, one person criticized individuals tweeting against the brand. They claimed that “everyone commenting on this article on a Sunday night” dressed exactly the same; in bootcut jeans and brown shoes.

Other users have expressed general distaste for the luxury fashion business.

User Ray O’Connor speculated that Balenciaga is “an economic experiment, trying to see what is the maximum price per unit of mundane clothing that can be squeezed out of idiots.”
