Balenciaga-Designed Yeezy Gap Debuts $440 Denim Jacket – Sourcing Journal

The first Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga products dropped on Wednesday, just over a month after the French luxury fashion house announced it was joining the fold.

The first eight pieces focus on “timeless silhouettes” translated through the lens of Ye and Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna. Notably, they closely mirror Ye’s personal style lately with models wearing his face coverings and slip-on boots.

The drop marks the debut of Yeezy Gap denim. A stonewashed denim jacket with distressed, motorcycle-inspired padding on the back, shoulders and arms, is paired with straight-cut five-pocket jeans.

The jacket is available in unisex sizes XS-XXL; The jeans are available in sizes 24 to 38. The 100% cotton styles are made in the USA and retail for between $220 and $440.

The rest of the collection includes faded black cotton logo hoodies, short-sleeve t-shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts and track pants. Oversized and slightly cropped cuts add the streetwear edge Balenciaga leaned heavily into under Demna’s direction. Some pieces feature a “seamless” construction. A dove motif seen throughout the line nods to an “unnamed hope for the future”.

Sizes XS-XXL are available now for pre-order at Yeezygap.com and Farfetch.com and priced at $140-$240.

The release follows Ye’s performance of “Donda 2” in Miami on Tuesday night. Merchandise from the album includes hoodies, t-shirts and face masks designed by Balenciaga.

Focused on utilitarian design, the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga partnership is described as a “creative exploration” within the Yeezy Gap venture that launched in June 2020. More styles seem to be on the horizon. Other images provided by Gap Inc. include nylon outerwear, ponchos, jumpsuits and black denim.
